His subjects are the chess players at public tables throughout California. Here are a few of my favorites:

Make-shift chess table six inches from a major street? Check.
The Bible held together by some duct tape? Check.
Cut-off jeans that are way too short? Check.

These photos are really nice. I especially dig the san francisco pics. It's too bad they moved the tables from fifth street, now they're closer to sixth street and no one plays there any more.
